perforated panel

The Manheim Drive Automobile Auction House in Stockbridge, Georgia is one of the most modern auto auctions in the world. Its décor, floor to ceiling, contributes to the thrill of the business deal. Perforated stainless and aluminum fabrications, unique lighting, video screens and a food serving area draw the customers in. For everyone involved in this project, it was not just another construction project. The manufacturers, installers, General Contractor and Architect take great pride in having contributed to the details of this inviting experience.

After walking through the front entrance you look forward into a large open room. The far wall is immediately noticed, testing the senses attempting to take it all in. The wall is long and curved with over a dozen video screens playing. Vertical ellipses of neon lighting curve around the video screens. The largest area of the wall is 1/8” aluminum panels painted with two-coat mirror silver powder coat paint. Most of the panels are perforated using various perforation patterns. Some of the panels are partially perforated and partially solid with the perforation patterns terminating at the curve of the neon lighting. All of the backs of the panels follow the curve of the wall but some of the faces have a smaller radius causing the panels to bulge out from the wall. These bulging perforated panels are perforated on the top, bottom and face. The large top and bottom returns are accomplished by welding and grinding smooth these curved corners. The corners of all panels on the wall are welded and ground smooth.

A group of rolling lecterns is in the hall. The front of these lecterns are adorned with perforated brushed stainless steel panels similar in shape to the bulging video wall panels. In the center of each panel is the Manheim “M” logo.

The size of each panel on this project was determined using dimensioned Auto CAD architectural plans or by field measurements. Each unique element was drawn in Auto-CAD and programmed for Computer Aided Manufacturing. All panels that required custom shaping were turret nibbled.

Custom Architectural Designs, Inc. fabricated and painted the video wall panels and fabricated the lectern panels out of pre-finished stainless.
