Perforated Building Display
Armstrong Visitors Center, Lancaster, PA
The new 50,000 square foot facility is a partial renovation and partial new addition. The program incorporates exhibition and presentation space for visitors to the campus and office space for visitors to the campus and office space for staff. The perforated metal bends and folds while making the transition from a super scale design to a projecting canopy to the ceiling at the interior of the project.
The old facade of the building is entirely screened with perforated adonized aluminum, and new areas have clear glazing and frosted glass panels for sun control. Similar to interior systems, panels are suspended from steel frames and attached back to the building face. This new facade masks the old building, displays the company's brand and announces Armstrong's commitment to innovation.
