The perforated metal spiral staircase was constructed to connect the student lounge with the upper level media center of a teaching facility for the University of Kentucky. This application was both functional and aesthetic by incorporating slotted, perforated metal panel guardrails and stainless steel handrails creating striking vertical circulation visible from not only inside the facility but the exterior as well. The slotted, perforated panels were used on both ornamental and utility stairs in the facility to compliment the contemporary nature of the structure and made a direct relationship to the "high tech" furnishing located throughout.
