The NDSU Residence Dining Center Renovation transforms an existing 1960's dining center into an energetic, student-friendly environment. A curved glass aluminum curtainwall on a solarium addition draws passersby to the dining center entrance. The curtainwall creates a layered effect which is repeated throughout the dining center to provide scale and interest. Perforated aluminum plate screen walls continue the curve of the curtainwall. The perforated aluminum plate mimics the ceramic frit dot pattern on the solarium glass. The screen walls also contribute to the layered effect by providing a transparent layer in front of an outdoor patio area at one end and an emergency exit at the other. A curved metal trellis ties the facade together and creates a final layer.
