Residential Use of Perforated Metal, located in Omaha NE

A fire nearly destroyed this 1920's Craftsman Bungelow owned by an architect, his wife, and their three children. The original home was gutted down to the studs, and the opportunity to open the house and modernize it was presented. The architect deftly created a living space defined by multiple layers of perforated aluminum.

The perforated wall shown in the picture allows natural light to filter down from clerestory windows, and provides a railing for the stairs. The use of perforated metal creates an attractive, modern environment while staying functional at the same time.
