In Los Angeles, commuters and visitors are now treated to a beautiful and modern environment while traveling underground. Completing work on several subway stations for Los Angles Metropolitalian Transportation Authority, San Diego Sheet Metal Works assisted three different architectural firms in bringing their designs to life.
The Hollywood Highland subway station, designed by Dworsky Associates, features 100% custom perforations and various radius shapes. The intricate perforation detailing was achieved with the use of high-speed punch presses at the San Diego Sheet Metal Works facility in Santee, California.
Each row of curved panels at the station features graduated perforations that form a key component of the visual objective.
In addition to the detailed architectural elements, San Diego Sheet Metal Works was responsible for the fabrication and installation of the stainless steel waste and ash receptacles, fire hose cabinets, ticket cabinetry, telephone enclosures as well perforated wall and beam cladding.
