Perforated Aluminum Metal Accents

Building Facade - Wings

Project: 1115 Broadway
Architect: Architectural Workshop
Project Team: Mark Bowers AIA, Jane Blumer RA

1115 Broadway Office Building is located in a highly visible part of town that is currently experiencing a lot of rebuilding and remodeling. The owner of 1115 Broadway was looking for an affordable approach to create a dynamic and eye catching renovation that would be low maintenance and continue to look new for many years. The products that were chosen are a stone base, stucco walls and performed aluminum metal panels. The perforated aluminum metal panels were chosen for the exterior awning features for several different reasons. The owner was looking for a material that would provide a light and airy feel combined with a retro aesthetic to a 1950’s style building. Additionally, the perforated metal panels were ideal for creating the sculptural “wing” feature with the many complex angles and combined curves. The wing feature and the aluminum awning created a fresh, new look for a tired old building.

The owner chose the perforated aluminum panels because of the clean metallic aesthetic with no maintenance at a competitive price to a traditional fabric awning. The perforated aluminum metal aluminum panels give a unique and distinct appearance for a small building competing to be recognized in a large city.
